PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raway Nahk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nozza Bricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Raway Nahk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nozza Bricks!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nahk looks to throw the jab but Bricks is out of range.
Nahk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bricks tries to avoid it but Nahk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bricks to the ground. Bricks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nahk closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bricks to the mat! Bricks manages to get full guard.

Nahk stands up from Bricks's guard - Nahk perhaps looking for a knockout.
Bricks tries to clinch up but Nahk circles away and keeps his distance.

Nahk gets a double leg takedown into Bricks's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bricks trying to control the position.
Nahk passes Bricks's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bricks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bricks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nahk is working away from the top position though.

Nahk decides to return to a standing position.
Bricks fails with a takedown attempt.

Nahk looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Nahk is taking a breather. Bricks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Nahk is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bricks looking for submissions off his back.
Bricks trying to control here.
Nahk prevents Bricks from improving his position.
Nahk trying to control the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bricks pushes Nahk off looking to stand but Nahk dives back in and keeps control.

Raway Nahk has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Bricks shoots in looking for a takedown but Nahk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bricks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Nahk clinches.
Bricks tries a body shot but Nahk blocks it.
Bricks misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Nahk.
Bricks should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bricks drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Raway Nahk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nozza Bricks.
Bricks looks gassed!
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Bricks fails to pull the fight into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bricks tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Nahk decides to pull guard.

Nahk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bricks defends it easily.
Bricks trying to control but Nahk is working from the bottom.
Bricks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nahk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bricks is one step ahead there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nahk will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raway Nahk dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nahk pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bricks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Nahk closes the distance and clinches.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Nahk.
Bricks fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Raway Nahk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nozza Bricks.

Bricks manages to break the clinch.
Bricks doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nahk counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bricks's guard now.
Nahk works over Bricks with some ground and pound from guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nahk controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Bricks is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bricks is breathing heavily.

Nahk stands up from Bricks's guard - Nahk perhaps looking for a knockout.
Raway Nahk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bricks doesn't manage to clinch there - Nahk circles away.

Nahk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nahk showed some decent athleticism there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nahk working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Nahk uses his free foot to push down on Bricks's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bricks.

Nahk is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bricks is surviving well by controlling Nahk's body position as best he can.
Bricks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nahk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bricks tries to buck Nahk off but he can't manage it.
Nahk is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bricks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nahk breaks from Bricks's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nahk sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Nahk raining down hammerfists from mount.
Nahk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bricks is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nahk really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nahk with shots to the head and body - Bricks looks very uncomfortable down there.
Nahk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bricks wants to control but Nahk is having none of it.

Nahk cracks Bricks with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Nahk works his way to his opponent's back.
Nahk controlling from the back.

Nahk is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bricks is defending well though. Nahk let's go of the attempt for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nahk is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nahk gets his hands free as Bricks looks to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bricks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Nahk counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nahk works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Nahk performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Bricks looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nahk is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bricks can do to turn this around?

Bricks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bricks is working to get back to half guard.
Nahk controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nahk jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bricks manages to avoid the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nahk has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Nahk looking to finish Bricks with some ground and pound. This is bad for Bricks!

Nahk has control of Bricks's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bricks regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Nahk is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bricks can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bricks tries to hold on but Nahk postures up.

Nahk is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Bricks is forced to tap! Great finish!
