The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNutt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Raines napping and manages to drive through into side control! Raines is breathing heavily. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. McNutt working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Xavier Raines's cut is getting worse. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. McNutt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Raines seems a little lost for a moment, as McNutt dominates the positioning. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McNutt looks up at the clock and then as Raines takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McNutt smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
McNutt lands a few punches from side control. McNutt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Raines is working to avoid the ground and pound but McNutt connects with a decent elbow. McNutt has hold of Raines's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Raines seems comfortable defending it but McNutt has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Raines is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Raines is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McNutt couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tage McNutt! Tage McNutt tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
