Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kogata Munoz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dalton Pressnell! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pressnell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Munoz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pressnell with a lazy takedown attempt and Munoz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Munoz landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Pressnell is trying to stand back up but Munoz is controlling him
Munoz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Munoz lands strikes from half guard. Pressnell tries to get to full guard but Munoz has control of the leg. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice strikes from Munoz there. Munoz not doing much here.
Munoz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Munoz connects with a nice short shot to Pressnell's temple. Munoz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Munoz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Munoz is looking for a kimura but Pressnell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Munoz to get the leverage. Nice strikes from Munoz there. Munoz is taking a breather. Pressnell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Munoz winds up and cracks Pressnell with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Munoz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Munoz connects with a nice short shot to Pressnell's temple. Munoz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pressnell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pressnell is rocked! Nice strikes from Munoz there. Pressnell is still in real trouble! Can Munoz finish him? Munoz lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Pressnell quite badly. Pressnell pulls Munoz in close trying to recover. Munoz postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Pressnell on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Pressnell doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
