PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarni Kutsoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kutsoo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter Sandman. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarni Kutsoo!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kutsoo closes the distance and clinches.

Kutsoo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lee looks for a takedown but Kutsoo sprawls well.
Lee is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but Kutsoo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Lee loads up on a big right hand but Kutsoo slips the punch.
Kutsoo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.

Kutsoo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Lee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kutsoo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kutsoo pushes down on Lee's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kutsoo is keen to just control but Lee is a slippery customer.
Kutsoo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head.
Kutsoo is thwarting Lee's attempts to control the position.

Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kutsoo wants to pass to mount but Lee is defending the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kutsoo lands a nice short elbow.
Kutsoo is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kutsoo stands up out of the half guard.
Lee lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Eric Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kutsoo gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kutsoo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lee throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Kutsoo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jarni Kutsoo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kutsoo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kutsoo is defended easily by Lee.

Kutsoo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Kutsoo persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.

Kutsoo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kutsoo connects with a body shot that sends Lee's belly button to the back.
Kutsoo cracks a nice hook into Lee's ribs.
Lee tries to clinch but Kutsoo is having none of it.
Eric Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jarni Kutsoo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lee pulls guard effortlessly.
Lee keeping moving, preventing Kutsoo from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kutsoo tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard.

Kutsoo trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Jarni Kutsoo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Kutsoo tries to close the distance and clinch but Lee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kutsoo misses with a head kick.
Kutsoo misses with a double jab.
Kutsoo shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice sprawl there from Lee as Kutsoo shoots in.
Kutsoo leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lee stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kutsoo.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lee clinches.
Kutsoo lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Kutsoo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kutsoo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kutsoo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lee is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Jarni Kutsoo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jarni Kutsoo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kutsoo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jarni Kutsoo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
