Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bartholomew Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Cabbat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bartholomew Simpson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Cabbat!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabbat throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Simpson's waist but Simpson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cabbat off to one side.
Simpson gets tackled into the cage by Cabbat. Cabbat maintains the clinch.
Cabbat tries to pull guard but Simpson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Bartholomew Simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Cabbat.
Simpson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cabbat keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Cabbat gets a double leg takedown into Simpson's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Cabbat trying to control the position from guard on top but Simpson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Simpson is pulling down on Cabbat's head. It's preventing any offense from Cabbat, at least for the moment.
Cabbat chips away with some ground and pound.
Cabbat stands and throws Simpson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cabbat is working to tighten is grip on Simpson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Simpson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cabbat is really squeezing tight and eventually Simpson passes out! Cabbat breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Eric Cabbat!
