PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Stainz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Maul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Stainz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Darth Maul!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stainz fails with a takedown attempt.
Stainz doesn't manage to clinch there - Maul circles away.

Stainz gets a clinch.
Maul is trying to drag Stainz to the mat but Stainz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Stainz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stainz takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Maul shoots in for a takedown but Stainz shows good takedown defense.
Stainz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Stainz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maul as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Stainz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maul fails with a takedown attempt.
Stainz throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Maul's head.

It looks like Darth Maul has been cut.
Maul shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stainz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Maul swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stainz throws a leg kick but Maul sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Stainz lands with a straight right. Maul didn't see that one coming.
Stainz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Maul manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stainz moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Maul fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Stainz looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stainz.

Maul changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stainz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Maul is trying to get an arm triangle but Stainz is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stainz is looking to regain half guard here but Maul keeps moving and retains side control.

Maul has an Americana. Stainz didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maul is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maul hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Darth Maul!
After the fight, Darth Maul was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
