Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jethro Gibbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jason Tommy ! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tommy darts in and clinches Gibbs up against the cage. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Gibbs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Tommy gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Gibbs regains guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Tommy trying to control the position from guard on top but Gibbs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gibbs keeping full guard, as Tommy tries to pass. Tommy gets to his feet - Gibbs follows without any prompting. Gibbs tries for a takedown but Tommy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gibbs tries to clinch but Tommy moves out of range. Gibbs misses with a takedown attempt - Tommy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Tommy takes the fight into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Gibbs's face as he tries to break the clinch. Gibbs is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Tommy connects with a nasty looking knee right to Gibbs's face.
It looks like Jethro Gibbs has been cut. Gibbs is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tommy works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Tommy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tommy advances position into side control! Tommy grinds an elbow into Gibbs's temple. Tommy tries for a kimura but Gibbs is defending well. Tommy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tommy wants to control but Gibbs is keeping him busy. Tommy swings around for an armbar but Gibbs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tommy 's guard. Gibbs cracks Tommy with a solid left hand. Gibbs is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Tommy has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Gibbs is looking to defend but Tommy has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Gibbs! Tommy pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Gibbs taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jason Tommy !
