Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Malcom Dwyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bandwagon Warrior! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Warrior tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Warrior tries to clinch and Dwyer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Dwyer throws a big elbow that misses. Dwyer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Dwyer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Warrior working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dwyer. Dwyer postures up in Warrior's guard and throws a big left but Warrior blocks it. Warrior really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dwyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Warrior utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Warrior keeping moving, preventing Dwyer from controlling successfully. Dwyer stands up over Warrior, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dwyer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dwyer working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dwyer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Warrior's guard. Dwyer throwing shots but Warrior is blocking nicely. Dwyer is taking a breather. Warrior says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Warrior can do anything to dispel that myth. Warrior is defending against the submission attempts here by Dwyer.
Dwyer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Warrior keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Warrior wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dwyer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dwyer missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Dwyer in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Warrior tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Dwyer!
