PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matty Deuche (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Phresh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phresh has chosen Bad chick alert as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matty Deuche!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Phresh!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deuche tries to clinch but Phresh is having none of it.

Deuche closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Phresh wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Phresh can't do much from the bottom here.
Phresh tries to escape but Deuche is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Deuche feints and as Phresh raises his hands in defense, Deuche changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Deuche stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Deuche closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Phresh wants to get back to his feet.
Deuche wants to lay and pray for a moment but Phresh keeps working.
Phresh looks like he's trying to stand up.
Phresh looks gassed!
Deuche is controlling the pace.
Phresh is refusing to be controlled, as Deuche sits in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Deuche takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Phresh is in trouble now - Deuche has advanced to mount!
Deuche tries to control but Phresh wriggling away.

Deuche is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Phresh has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Deuche looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Deuche lands a heavy elbow.
Phresh is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Deuche can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Phresh is looking to escape.

Phresh is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Phresh is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Deuche wants to control the pace but Phresh is squirming around nicely.
Phresh wants to get back to his feet.
Deuche pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Phresh is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Phresh is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Deuche trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Phresh's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Deuche trying to control but Phresh is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Phresh drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Phresh must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Deuche looking for a guillotine here but Phresh defends easily.

Deuche had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Phresh is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Deuche Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Phresh's back instead.

Phresh has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Deuche is persistently looking for the submission but Phresh is defending it well.
Phresh is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Deuche is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Phresh has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Phresh holding both Deuche 's hands and preventing any damage.

Deuche has his opponent's back but Phresh is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Deuche.
Phresh tries for a takedown but Deuche circles away easily

and Deuche counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Deuche stops Phresh from standing up.
Deuche passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Phresh is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Deuche has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Deuche wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Phresh, who protects the arm well.

Phresh sneaks out the side door and pushes Deuche away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Deuche counters with a takedown into side control.

Deuche tries to advance to mount but Phresh denies him.
Phresh is pushing Deuche's head away, looking to escape. Deuche manages to hold on to the position though.
Phresh stops Deuche from passing to mount.
Phresh tries to escape but Deuche is in control.

Deuche thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Phresh is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Deuche stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Deuche looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matty Deuche dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Deuche tries to close the distance and clinch but Phresh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Phresh wants to get back to his feet.

Deuche tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Phresh wants to get back to his feet but Deuche drags him back down.
Deuche tries to move into full mount but can't pass Phresh's legs.
Phresh is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Deuche asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Deuche is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Phresh is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Phresh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Deuche counters with a single leg into guard. Phresh didn't expect that.

Deuche prevents Phresh from getting back to his feet.
Deuche wants to control from the top but Phresh keeps moving.
Phresh is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phresh keeping moving, preventing Deuche from controlling successfully.
Deuche won't allow Phresh to get back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Deuche decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Deuche wants to pass the guard but Phresh is defending well.
Phresh pushes Deuche off looking to stand but Deuche dives back in and keeps control.

Phresh tries to escape but Deuche is in control.

Phresh takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Deuche prevents Phresh from escaping the position.
Deuche tries to move to mount but Phresh blocks the move with his legs.

Phresh pushes Deuche away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Deuche gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Deuche working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Matty Deuche showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Deuche has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
