PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Bagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chip Freedom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freedom has chosen Star Spangled Banner as his entrance music. Chip Freedom will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Bagger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chip Freedom!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freedom tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bagger paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Freedom chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Freedom gets the takedown into side control.
Bagger sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Freedom is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bagger is looking to escape.
Freedom not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Freedom not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Freedom is pressing down on Bagger's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bagger is holding on for now.
Freedom thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bagger's head.
Bagger is looking to escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Freedom takes a swing at Bagger's ribcage but misses.
Freedom misses with a hook.
A clash of legs there as Bagger blocks the low kick.
Freedom keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bagger misses with a takedown
and Freedom counters with a nice leg kick.

Bagger uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Freedom.

Freedom gets a clinch.
Freedom just leaning against Bagger, taking a breather.
Freedom scores with a knee to the head.

Bagger is trying to trip Freedom. He has hold of a leg but Freedom is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bagger persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Bagger is breathing heavily.
Freedom is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Freedom is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Bagger trying to hold on to Freedom's head to control him but Freedom postures up.
Freedom winds up and cracks Bagger with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Freedom wants to pass the guard but Bagger is defending well.
Bagger has hold of Freedom's hands but Freedom slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Bagger is defending against the submission attempts here by Freedom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Freedom prevents Bagger from improving his position.
Bagger is not content to let Freedom control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bagger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Freedom sprawls well initially but Bagger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Freedom moves into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Freedom throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Bagger passes Freedom's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Freedom is trying to get back to full guard.
Bagger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Freedom keeps working.
Freedom has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bagger is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Freedom has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bagger is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bagger wants to pass to mount but Freedom is defending the position.
Freedom wants to improve his position but Bagger is controlling well.
Bagger thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bagger scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Freedom swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bagger.

Freedom feints and as Bagger raises his hands in defense, Freedom changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.


Bagger is rocked!
Freedom cracks Bagger with a solid left hand.
Oh Bagger is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Freedom passes Bagger's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bagger tries to get to full guard but Freedom has control of the leg.
Freedom uses his free foot to push down on Bagger's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bagger.
Bagger is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Freedom lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bagger hang on?
Freedom lands a big elbow.
Freedom controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chip Freedom dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Bagger drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bagger seems to have got his legs back now.
Freedom is not content to let Bagger control the position.
Freedom is looking to reverse the position.
Freedom manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bagger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Freedom gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Chip Freedom has got the better of the ground game so far.
Freedom stands up over Bagger, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Freedom won't allow Bagger to sweep him here.

Freedom rushes Bagger and presses him up against the cage.
Bagger drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Freedom gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bagger connects with a nice short shot to Freedom's temple.
