Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shaun McGarrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Tupac -Ambitionz Az A Ridah as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson looks for a takedown but McGarrell sprawls well.
Jackson tries to clinch up.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.
McGarrell misses with the combination.
Nice defenses there by McGarrell.
McGarrell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jackson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Jackson scores with a jab to the body.
McGarrell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jackson avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGarrell scores with a jab. Jackson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


Jackson is rocked!
Jackson wants to clinch up but McGarrell keeps it at a distance.
McGarrell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jackson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McGarrell.

McGarrell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with McGarrell, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes McGarrell against the cage but McGarrell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shaun McGarrell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Jackson.
McGarrell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Jackson is still on wobbly legs! Can McGarrell finish him?
McGarrell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but McGarrell pushes him off.

McGarrell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jackson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and McGarrell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McGarrell looks to land a combination but Jackson avoids it well.
Jackson clinches but McGarrell breaks the clinch
and McGarrell counters with a left and a right that stings Jackson.
Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McGarrell moves out of range as Jackson strikes.
Jackson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McGarrell scores with a three punch combo!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with McGarrell, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes McGarrell against the cage but McGarrell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McGarrell swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson is trying desperately to land a takedown but McGarrell is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Jackson.

Jackson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jackson keeps control of McGarrell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
McGarrell wants to get back to striking at distance but Jackson won't allow it.
McGarrell wants to break free but Jackson has control.
Jackson misses with a knee to the head.
Jackson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Jackson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McGarrell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
McGarrell tries to break the clinch but Jackson is controlling the position.
Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McGarrell just stands there and leans against the cage.
McGarrell takes an elbow to the forehead.
Jackson prevents McGarrell from breaking the clinch.
McGarrell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jackson with a poor takedown
and McGarrell counters with a series of strikes. Jackson will be more careful next time no doubt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson closes the distance but McGarrell moves to the side

and Jackson is countered with a crisp right hand from McGarrell that sends him to the canvas! McGarrell follows him to the mat into side control.
McGarrell is putting a hurting on Jackson here, landing some big shots from side control.


It looks like Gary Jackson has been cut.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

McGarrell decides to stand back up. McGarrell steps back and let's Jackson get back to his feet.
McGarrell fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Jackson to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Jackson looks to clinch but McGarrell throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Jackson taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Shaun McGarrell!
