Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lance Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Burton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burton has chosen Carcass - Keep on Rotting in the Free World as his entrance music. Burton has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Lance Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 18 - 1, fighting out of London, Fred Burton! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Burton as Jones shoots in. Burton looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Burton throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jones on the side of the head. Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Burton moves out of range of the strikes. Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones misses with a looping left. Sloppy strikes from Jones. Those never looked like landing. A telegraphed right hand from Jones misses the target. Burton dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Burton's shoulder, as Burton tries to avoid the shot. Jones throws a nice looking combination but Burton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jones misses with a few strikes there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones misses the jab. Jones tries to bum rush Burton with a series of wild strikes but Burton uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jones rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jones getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Jones. Jones misses with a few strikes there.

Burton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones. Jones throws a lazy right hand but Burton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Lance Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones lands a jab-cross combination. Burton swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jones. Burton defending well as Jones loads up on a big left hand. Jones throws a right and a left that Burton avoids nicely. Jones throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. This has been an exciting period of action! Burton lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Burton. Jones swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a swing at Burton's ribcage but misses. Jones looks to throw the jab but Burton is out of range. Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jones sizes up Burton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Burton's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jones under the eye. Burton misses with a looping left. No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Burton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jones's half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Burton stops Jones from getting back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Burton scores with punches from side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burton working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Jones throws a series of punches but Burton avoids them all with ease. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Burton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jones's guard. Burton trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Jones wanted to stand there but Burton had control of the position.

Jones is in close to Burton's body, working some short punches and elbows. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones wants to stand and escape but instead Burton has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Jones is wriggling around but Burton manages to pass to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Burton frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Burton postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jones looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to stand. Burton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jones can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Jones is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burton with a couple of short strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. You get the feeling that Jones really doesn't like being in this position too much.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Burton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
And that's the end of the fight! Lance Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
