Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Markov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paco Sancho! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Markov stuffs the takedown. Markov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sancho swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ivan Markov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sancho scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Markov tries to clinch there but Sancho circles away.
Sancho lands with a thumping leg kick.
Sancho misses with a low kick as Markov jumps back. The fight stays on the outside here - Markov looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Horrible takedown by Markov or perhaps it was just good defense by Sancho which made him look bad. Sancho displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Markov. Nice sprawl there from Sancho as Markov shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Markov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Markov fails with a takedown attempt. Markov misses with a double jab.
Markov avoids the head kick by Sancho.
Markov dives in and grabs Sancho's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sancho pushes down on Markov's head and hops out. Sancho changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Sancho lands a slapping body shot.
Markov is breathing heavily. Markov tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Sancho sends Markov crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sancho is motioning to the referee to let Markov up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
It looks like Ivan Markov has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Markov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sancho defends it nicely. Markov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sancho pinned against the cage. Sancho gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Markov. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Sancho stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sancho wants it to stay on the feet. Markov fails with a takedown attempt. Sancho lands a lovely overhand right.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sancho connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Markov doesn't manage to clinch there - Sancho circles away.
Sancho with a body punch. A glancing blow. Markov throws a leg kick but Sancho sees it coming and moves out of range. Markov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Markov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sancho throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sancho is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Markov rather than just go for the knockout. A head kick misses from Sancho. Sancho is looking to slow Markov down with leg kicks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Good shot there by Sancho. Markov shoots for a double leg takedown but Sancho sprawls well. He's pushed Markov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Markov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sancho as he avoids it easily. Sancho is looking to slow Markov down with leg kicks. Markov takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Sancho scores with a jab to the jaw. Sancho scores with a hook to the body. Markov takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Sancho dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sancho lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Markov looks to land a right hand but Sancho moved out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paco Sancho dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ivan Markov's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Sancho.
Markov has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sancho is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sancho lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Markov tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sancho just stands there and leans against the cage. Sancho wants to break free but Markov has control.
Sancho breaks from the clinch.
Markov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sancho tries to avoid it but Markov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sancho to the ground. Sancho escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sancho has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Markov slips a jab from Sancho. Sancho buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sancho lands a jab to the nose. Markov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sancho as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Markov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Markov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ivan Markov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sancho throws a shot to the body.
Sancho fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Sancho feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Markov sprawling to the canvas! Markov rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Sancho finish him?!
Markov is rocked! Crack! A monster head kick from Sancho and Markov falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Sancho!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Paco Sancho!
