Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Campbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: KRS One - Step Into a World. John Jackson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Campbell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson misses with a combination

enabling Campbell to counter with a crisp jab.
John Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Campbell scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Jackson gets a double leg takedown into Campbell's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Campbell controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.

Campbell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jackson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like Jackson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Campbell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Campbell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Campbell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.

Campbell has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.

Campbell throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jackson escapes and throws Campbell's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Campbell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jackson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Campbell is in trouble now - Jackson has advanced to mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Campbell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jackson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Campbell is squirming around, avoiding Jackson's attempts to control the action.

Jackson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Campbell is looking to improve his position but Jackson isn't that keen on the idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poor strikes thrown by Jackson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Jackson dominated that round.
That's time! Campbell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A slapping leg kick lands for Campbell.
Jackson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Jackson misses with a few strikes there.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Campbell, as that shot connected.
Jackson blocks the body kick.
Jackson misses the shot to the body.
Campbell bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jackson moves out of range as Campbell throws a body kick.
Donk. Jackson catches Campbell right on the button with a cross.
Jab, jab by Campbell - just one landing.
Both fighters circling a little - Campbell finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Campbell scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jackson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jackson tries to bum rush Campbell with a series of wild strikes but Campbell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Campbell pinned against the cage. Campbell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jackson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Campbell throws the kick towards the body but Jackson avoids it.
Campbell lands a nice looking body shot.
Campbell dodges the punch combination from Jackson.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Campbell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Campbell. Jackson shrugs it off though.
Nice cross by Campbell.
Campbell throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Campbell will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Campbell lands a nice hook to Jackson's body. Jackson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jackson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

John Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Campbell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Jackson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Jackson.
Campbell misses with a body kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Campbell moves out of range.
Jackson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Campbell is out of range and Jackson settles back down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jack Campbell will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Campbell moves away.

Jackson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Campbell to the mat! Campbell manages to get full guard.
Campbell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

Campbell stands up and waves to Jackson to follow him.

A solid leg kick lands there for Campbell.

Jackson avoids the body shot from Campbell.

Campbell cracks a nice hook into Jackson's ribs.
Campbell throws a wild body kick that Jackson sees coming a mile off.
Jackson throws a hook to the side of Campbell's head but Campbell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson.
Jackson looks to land a right hand but Campbell moved out of range.
Good work by Jackson as he checks the leg kick.
Jackson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Campbell sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Campbell napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Campbell wants to get back to his feet but Jackson drags him back down.
Jackson controls the position.
Campbell is trying to control Jackson's posture but Jackson avoids it.
Campbell is trying to get back to half guard.
Jackson wants to control but Campbell is keeping him busy.

Campbell is trying to escape the position but Jackson is controlling the position.
Jackson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Campbell down.

Jackson throws an elbow but Campbell slips to the side and avoids it well.
Campbell is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control.

Campbell is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Jackson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson is taking a breather. Campbell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jackson prevents Campbell from improving his position.
Jackson is thwarting Campbell's attempts to control the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Campbell wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.

John Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, John Jackson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
