Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dilbert Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donato Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chavez comes to the cage accompanied by When Worlds Colide by Powerman 5000. The crowd seem to be enjoying Russo's choice of entrance music: Tupac-The Uppercut. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dilbert Chavez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 20 - 1, fighting out of New York, Donato Russo! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chavez lands in his opponent's guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Chavez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Russo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chavez has Russo in his guard. Chavez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Chavez controls Russo momentarily but Russo frees himself. Russo wants to control from the top but Chavez keeps moving. Russo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chavez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chavez has escaped and now he's on top! Chavez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chavez lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Chavez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Russo keeping moving, preventing Chavez from controlling successfully. Chavez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Russo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chavez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Russo's head. Chavez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Chavez lands a couple of elbows. Chavez throwing strikes but missing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Russo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Chavez looking to pass the guard. Russo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Chavez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chavez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Chavez working the head with strikes. Chavez wants to control but Russo is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chavez lands a nice forearm strike. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Russo defending against the ground and pound. Russo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Chavez gets back to half guard. Russo not landing any meaningful shots this time. Russo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chavez is just riding it out for now. Russo eventually gives up the hold. Chavez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chavez. Chavez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Russo manages to get himself to full guard.

Russo looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Russo is looking to break free of the clinch but Chavez has double underhooks.

Russo jumps guard but Chavez stands there with Russo around his waist. Russo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Russo wants the takedown. Chavez is fighting it off but Russo persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Chavez's guard against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Russo trying to move into half guard but instead Chavez has managed to sweep! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chavez works over Russo with some ground and pound from guard. Chavez won't allow Russo to sweep him here. Chavez is working Russo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Chavez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

And that's the end of the fight! Dilbert Chavez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chavez, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
