Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 2, fighting out of New York, Archer Christian! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leonard Lewis! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christian misses with a low kick. Christian moves out of range as Lewis throws a body kick.
Christian pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Lewis misses with an uppercut. Christian saw that one coming. Lewis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Christian manages to avoid it. Christian throws a leg kick but Lewis sees it coming and moves out of range. Christian misses with a low kick.
Christian uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lewis.
Christian slips under a jab from Lewis. Lewis misses the shot to the body. Lewis is looking to clinch. Lewis scores with a nice head shot. Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Christian paws at him with a jab and circles away. Lewis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Christian. Lewis closes the distance and clinches. Christian has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lewis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Christian lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lewis backwards. Christian is trying to maintain a safe position but Lewis gets an underhook and turns Christian into the cage. Lewis blocks an uppercut.
Christian pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Christian tries to land knees in the clinch but Lewis avoids the damage to the body. Christian managing to block the knees to the body from Lewis.
Lewis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Christian has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lewis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Lewis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Lewis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Lewis throws a sloppy head kick and Christian moves out of range easily. Lewis thumps Christian with a low kick. Lewis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Christian moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lewis misses with a hook
and Christian counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lewis thinking. A big left from Lewis misses. Lewis is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Christian shoots for a double leg takedown but Lewis sprawls well. He's pushed Christian's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Archer Christian. That's going to take a lot out of him. Christian takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Christian tries to move into range but Lewis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Christian shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Christian wants to work for an arm triangle but Lewis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Christian seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Christian lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Christian sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lewis defending well though.

Christian controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Christian stops Lewis from standing up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Christian accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Christian scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Christian postures up in Lewis's guard and throws a big left but Lewis blocks it. Lewis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Christian postures up in Lewis's guard and throws a big left but Lewis blocks it. That's four minutes gone in the round. Lewis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lewis is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Christian controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Christian has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Leonard Lewis. Lewis missing with a left hand there. Christian was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A nice leg kick lands there from Lewis. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Archer Christian will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lewis throws a hook to the side of Christian's head but Christian sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Christian uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lewis.
Lewis scores with the left hand. Christian knows he should have avoided that one. Lewis misses with a hook. Lewis fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Christian is out of range. Lewis goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Lewis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Lewis rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Christian makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Lewis lands a nice looking body kick. Christian feints and as Lewis raises his hands in defense, Christian changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lewis wants to stand and escape but Christian is having none of it. Christian trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lewis tries to stand and escape but Christian is controlling the position. Christian wants to improve his position but Lewis is controlling well.

Lewis wants to stand up but Christian has a hold of him and won't allow it. Christian regains full guard. Nicely done. Lewis trying to stand up but can't free himself from Christian's guard. Christian controls Lewis momentarily but Lewis frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Christian lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lewis! Christian lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Christian thowing shots but they're missing. Christian punishing his opponent with strikes. Christian looking to control but Lewis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Lewis tries to reverse the position but Christian maintains control. Christian lands a nice shot to the head. Christian pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Lewis is rocked! Christian postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Lewis out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Christian goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
