PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lenord Lengal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Tirpitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Lenord Lengal has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lenord Lengal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Tirpitz!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tirpitz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lengal to the mat! Lengal manages to get full guard.
Lengal looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Lengal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tirpitz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tirpitz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Tirpitz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Tirpitz advances position into side control!
Lengal is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Tirpitz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Tirpitz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tirpitz controls the position from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lengal prevents Tirpitz from moving into mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lengal tries to buck Tirpitz off but Tirpitz is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tirpitz is chipping away with strikes.
Lengal takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lengal tries to bench press Tirpitz off him but Tirpitz keeps the position.

Tirpitz decides to stand back up. Tirpitz steps back and let's Lengal get back to his feet.

Tirpitz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lengal will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tirpitz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Lengal can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tirpitz controls the pace.
Tirpitz lands a couple of elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tirpitz gets to his feet. Lengal looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Tirpitz tries to bum rush Lengal with a series of wild strikes but Lengal uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Lengal gets caught flat footed, as Tirpitz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tirpitz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Tirpitz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tirpitz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tirpitz stays in close to Lengal's body and controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Karl Tirpitz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Tirpitz fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lengal looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tirpitz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lengal is trying to defend but Tirpitz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Tirpitz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Let's hope that Tirpitz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Tirpitz dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Tirpitz throws a chopping leg kick but Lengal manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Tirpitz drives through with a takedown into Lengal's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Tirpitz is stalling in the full guard.
Tirpitz tries to free his leg and advance position but Lengal is retaining full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lengal is working an open guard so Tirpitz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Tirpitz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Tirpitz works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Tirpitz trying to control the pace.

Tirpitz stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Tirpitz moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Tirpitz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lengal can't fight it off and eventually Tirpitz manages to take the fight to the floor. Lengal looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tirpitz is in close to Lengal's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Tirpitz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Tirpitz clinches.

Tirpitz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tirpitz gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Tirpitz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Tirpitz stands and steps away. Lengal gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tirpitz.
The referee asks Tirpitz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tirpitz prefers to stall for the moment though.

Tirpitz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tirpitz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tirpitz lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tirpitz stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lengal tries to clinch up.

Lengal gets tackled into the cage by Tirpitz. Tirpitz maintains the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Tirpitz.

Tirpitz has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lengal clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lengal is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Tirpitz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Tirpitz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lengal napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Tirpitz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tirpitz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tirpitz in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Lengal taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tirpitz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lengal has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tirpitz staying calm.
Tirpitz works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Tirpitz has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lengal!
Tirpitz landing punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tirpitz working the ground and pound effectively.

Tirpitz working for a guillotine from mount but Lengal is in no mood to give up.
Tirpitz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tirpitz looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Oh Lengal is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Tirpitz! Lengal is hurt baaadly! Tirpitz is firing away with more strikes - Lengal is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Tirpitz!
