Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitch Rapp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buri Grimnir! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grimnir misses with a hook
and Rapp counters with a nice uppercut. Grimnir throws out a loose jab but Rapp uses good head movement to avoid it. Grimnir misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rapp.
Grimnir throws a jab when Rapp was well out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Rapp. Grimnir does a little dance to reset his feet. Grimnir dodges the punch combination from Rapp.
Rapp throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Grimnir. Grimnir shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rapp as he avoids it easily. Rapp steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Grimnir. Rapp throws a right and a left that both miss. Grimnir connects with a body shot that sends Rapp's belly button to the back. Rapp thows a body shot but no joy. Grimnir scores with a sloppy right hand. Rapp should have avoided that one. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rapp tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Grimnir throws an off balance right hand
and Rapp counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grimnir scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Rapp takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Rapp is breathing heavily. Rapp takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rapp thuds his right hand into Grimnir's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Grimnir closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Grimnir is trying to control the action in half guard but Rapp is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rapp taking some punishment here, with Grimnir in his half guard. Grimnir uses his free foot to push down on Rapp's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rapp. Rapp is trying to stand up. Grimnir is in the full mount, landing strikes. Rapp tries to lock up and control but Grimnir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Grimnir misses with a head shot. Grimnir looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Rapp covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
