Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fergus McRedd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malcolm Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McRedd comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Shikari - Sorry You're Not a Winner. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Fergus McRedd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Malcolm Hopkins!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McRedd moves out of range of the strikes.
McRedd pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Hopkins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McRedd tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hopkins is in McRedd's guard.

McRedd had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hopkins defends it easily.
McRedd looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McRedd is controlling Hopkins's posture.
McRedd keeping full guard, as Hopkins tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hopkins is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Hopkins throws a big right hand that misses.
Hopkins stands and throws McRedd's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hopkins fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Hopkins swings around for an armbar but McRedd sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hopkins's guard.
Hopkins is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hopkins wants to improve his position but instead McRedd has moved into half guard.
McRedd not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hopkins trying to hold on to McRedd's head to control him but McRedd postures up.
Hopkins is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McRedd landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
McRedd lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McRedd thows a huge punch but Hopkins dodges it nicely.

McRedd is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

McRedd wants to pass to mount but Hopkins is defending the position.
McRedd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
McRedd throwing shots but Hopkins is blocking nicely.
Hopkins gets back to full guard.

Hopkins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McRedd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McRedd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hopkins looking for a sweep. Not yet Hopkins, not yet.

McRedd drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hopkins manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McRedd has Hopkins in his guard.
Hopkins postures up in McRedd's guard and throws a big left but McRedd blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McRedd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hopkins working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hopkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McRedd is keeping the position for now.
McRedd utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hopkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McRedd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McRedd looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

McRedd decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McRedd passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hopkins!
Hopkins sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Malcolm Hopkins has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hopkins regains full guard. Nicely done.

McRedd makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hopkins can't keep his opponent in guard - McRedd advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hopkins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McRedd is working away from the top position though.
Hopkins wants to improve his position but McRedd is controlling well.
Hopkins keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hopkins is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Hopkins gets back to full guard.

Hopkins tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McRedd stands and throws Hopkins's legs to the side, diving into side control.
McRedd is putting a hurting on Hopkins here, landing some big shots from side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hopkins tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hopkins manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
McRedd misses with a head shot. Hopkins uses the momentum to regain guard.
Hopkins wants to sweep but no luck.
Hopkins throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
McRedd postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hopkins looking to hit a scissor sweep but McRedd is one step ahead there.
Hopkins keeping full guard, as McRedd tries to pass.

Hopkins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hopkins tries to control but McRedd wriggling away.
Hopkins misses with a head shot.
McRedd is looking to improve his position but Hopkins isn't that keen on the idea.
Hopkins throwing strikes but McRedd uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hopkins perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hopkins tries to pass the half guard into mount. McRedd knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hopkins is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fergus McRedd will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hopkins takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hopkins tries for a takedown but McRedd sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McRedd wants to clinch.
A swing and a miss from McRedd.
Hopkins misses with a hook
and McRedd cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McRedd stuffs the takedown attempt from Hopkins. Hopkins gets slowly back to his feet.

McRedd drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

McRedd lands a few punches from side control.
Hopkins is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked McRedd off and has taken his back!
Even with his hooks in, Hopkins manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Hopkins looking for the RNC.
McRedd is trapped and Hopkins is scoring with shots to the head and body.
McRedd wants to get back to his feet.
McRedd tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hopkins looking to break McRedd's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. McRedd remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hopkins will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hopkins has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Hopkins is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. McRedd has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Hopkins has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! McRedd taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Hopkins doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Malcolm Hopkins!
