The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blanco stuffs the takedown attempt from Shields. Shields gets slowly back to his feet.
Shields tries for a takedown but Blanco sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shields is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shields shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blanco pinned against the cage. Blanco gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Shields. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shields closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blanco circles away.
Antonio Blanco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Blanco wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Shields throws a wild hook but Blanco just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Shields gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Blanco raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
