Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Soon Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Simler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Soon Do! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Simler! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simler throws a right hand that misses
and Do counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Do throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Do not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Do thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Ground and pound from Do. Do working Simler over with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Do is looking to take a break and control but Simler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Do missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Simler avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Do. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Do connects with a nice short shot to Simler's temple. Do looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Simler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Simler is rocked! Simler is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Do is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Simler is hurt! He's hurt bad - Do fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Simler from any more punishment! Congratulations to Do! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Soon Do! Soon Do was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
