Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalana Kawaanui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TimeTo Tap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, TimeTo Tap!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Tap. Kawaanui does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kawaanui misses with a takedown

and Tap counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kawaanui is staying active underneath Tap, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kawaanui knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tap on the ground.
Tap is thwarting Kawaanui's attempts to control the position.
Kawaanui is trying to get back to full guard.

Tap looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Tap is keen to just control but Kawaanui is a slippery customer.

Tap looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kawaanui with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kawaanui is defending against the submission attempts here by Tap.
Tap trying to control the action but Kawaanui is working from the bottom.

Tap is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kawaanui sees it coming and defends easily.
Tap landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tap is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Tap is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Tap has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tap is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kawaanui defends it well.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tap moves into full mount! Kawaanui won't be happy about that!
Tap is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kawaanui can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kawaanui is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Tap pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Tap can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kawaanui is looking to escape.

Tap has hold of Kawaanui's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kawaanui manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tap with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Tap trying to control but Kawaanui is having none of it.

Tap controlling the position easily from mount.
Tap putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tap wants to control the pace but Kawaanui is squirming around nicely.

Tap fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kawaanui sprawls well initially but Tap persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Tap is trying to control the action in half guard but Kawaanui is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Tap is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kawaanui tries to kick Tap off but Tap keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
TimeTo Tap has got the better of the ground game so far.
