Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Whilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael DeJesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whilton comes to the cage accompanied by Fuel-Metallica. DeJesus comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Get Knocked Down kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Whilton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael DeJesus! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whilton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. DeJesus looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Whilton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. DeJesus has his foot on Whilton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Whilton works his way back into a safe position though. Whilton lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Whilton stands up over DeJesus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Whilton engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Whilton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whilton controls from within his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Whilton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Whilton stands up over DeJesus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whilton showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
James Whilton has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Whilton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Whilton stands up. Whilton closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into DeJesus's guard.
DeJesus is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! DeJesus can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Whilton controls the pace. DeJesus is still in real trouble! Can Whilton finish him? The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Whilton passes DeJesus's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Whilton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, DeJesus has managed to free his arm - good work. DeJesus seems to have recovered his senses. Whilton is taking a breather. DeJesus says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Whilton lands a nice short elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. DeJesus has hold of Whilton's hands but Whilton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Whilton frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Whilton cracks DeJesus with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whilton controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Whilton dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Whilton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. DeJesus manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Whilton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. DeJesus has momentary wrist control but Whilton slips an elbow through the middle. Whilton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. DeJesus is keeping the position for now. DeJesus is breathing heavily. Whilton throwing strikes but missing. James Whilton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whilton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Whilton's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Whilton sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed DeJesus's guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Whilton connects with a nice short shot to DeJesus's temple.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whilton looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Ground and pound from Whilton. Whilton is nestled in close to DeJesus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Whilton works his foot free and advances to mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Whilton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Whilton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that DeJesus can do to turn this around?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Whilton drops a big elbow. That's hurt DeJesus! More shots from Whilton and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
