PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fox Mulder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wolf is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Imperial March. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolf ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mulder moves away.
Wolf misses the shot to the body.
Wolf tests Mulder's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Fox Mulder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wolf misses with a few strikes there.
Good exchange - Wolf coming out on top.
Wolf swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mulder connects with the punch.

Mulder takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Wolf ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mulder moves away.
Nice uppercut there from Wolf.
Wolf throws a poor cross that misses
and Mulder counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wolf won't be happy with that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mulder wants to take a breather but Wolf manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mulder.

Mulderis looking to pass into half guard but Wolf pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Wolf is in guard.
Mulder bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wolf's guard.
Mulder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mulder is looking to work some ground and pound but Wolf has wrist control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mulder keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wolf's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mulder is looking to work some ground and pound but Wolf has wrist control.

That's time! Mulder's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mulder uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wolf.
Wolf loads up on a big right hand but Mulder slips the punch.
Mulder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wolf throws a body punch but Mulder moves out of range.
Mulder keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wolf.
Wolf throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mulder uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wolf.
Mulder cracks Wolf with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

enabling Wolf to counter with a crisp jab.

Mulder tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wolf swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wolf avoids the body shot from Mulder.
Mulder connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wolf. Wolf circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Mulder tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Wolf is able to avoid easily.
Mulder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Wolf tries to buck Mulder off but Mulder is having none of it.

Fox Mulder overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mulder is looking to sinch up a triangle. Wolf throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mulder's body to avoid the submission. Mulder has instead reached around Wolf's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mulder arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Fox Mulder!
