Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maxim Overeem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Piotr Tarnik!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarnik shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Overeem's guard.
Tarnik throwing strikes from guard but Overeem blocks nicely.
Overeem is looking for a triangle here but Tarnik uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Overeem sneaks back into half guard.
Overeem looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Tarnik pushes past his half guard into mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tarnik takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Overeem is in all sorts of trouble here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Overeem tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Overeem is working hard here to advance position.
Tarnik controlling the position easily from mount.
Overeem is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee warns Overeem that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
It looks like Maxim Overeem has been cut.

Tarnik lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Overeem tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Overeem could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Overeem is in a horrible position here. Tarnik smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tarnik postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Overeem badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Tarnik around the waist but Tarnik pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Tarnik is the winner by TKO! Tarnik jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Piotr Tarnik!
