Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter McBain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBain has chosen Alien8 as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thiago Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter McBain!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to work over McBain's front leg with a kick but McBain checks it.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McBain.
McBain thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gracie missing with a left hand there. McBain was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
McBain misses with a series of wild punches.
Gracie misses with an uppercut
letting McBain counter with a right hand.
Gracie misses with a two punch combination.

Gracie shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McBain has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.

Gracie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McBain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
McBain is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Gracie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McBain is keeping the position for now.

McBain keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.
Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McBain wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position.
McBain looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thiago Gracie.
McBain lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.
Some wild striking there from McBain.
Gracie lands with a good body shot.

Gracie does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McBain lands a head kick. Gracie smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
McBain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gracie misses with the combination.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but McBain sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McBain misses with the combination.
McBain fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiago Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A slow jab from McBain misses its intended target.
McBain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McBain fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Gracie slips under a jab.
Gracie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McBain.

McBain tries to sprawl but Gracie drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gracie wants to take a breather but McBain is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McBain is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.
Gracie tries to pass to full mount but McBain defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McBain pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.
Gracie is controlling the pace.
McBain blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gracie.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McBain is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount!
Gracie controlling his opponent.
McBain tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie throws some wild stikes that McBain manages to avoid easily.
Gracie sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Gracie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McBain is now in Gracie's guard. A big mistake from Gracie there, giving up the dominant position!
Gracie wants to stand up but McBain is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiago Gracie dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


McBain cracks a nice hook into Gracie's ribs.
McBain throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.
Gracie takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McBain keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gracie swinging wildly here.
McBain scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Some wild striking there from McBain.
Gracie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McBain throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease.
Gracie is looking to chop away at McBain's legs.
Gracie throws a right and a left that McBain avoids nicely.
Peter McBain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McBain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gracie misses with a left hand
and McBain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McBain throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.

McBain tries to sprawl but Gracie drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Gracie is working for a kimura but McBain is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McBain's head.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gracie looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.
McBain wants to get back to his feet.

Gracie is looking for submissions but instead, McBain has regained full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie wants to control from the top but McBain keeps moving.
Thiago Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McBain looking for a sweep. Not yet McBain, not yet.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but McBain is retaining full guard.
Gracie trying to control but McBain is working from the bottom.
Gracie passes into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thiago Gracie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
