Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Bryant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Julio Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez throws a head kick but Bryant moves out of range.
Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bryant avoids it really well and circles away. Bryant misses with a few strikes there.
Bryant moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Julio Sanchez has been cut. Bryant scores with a decent looking hook. Bryant looks to land a combination. Sanchez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sanchez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Bryant keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Sanchez fails to land the takedown. Nick Bryant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Sanchez. No joy there for Bryant, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bryant keeps the fight on the outside. Bryant takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Bryant throws a right and a left that Sanchez avoids nicely. Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bryant feints a jab promting Sanchez to slip. Bryant then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sanchez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. A combination from Bryant does no damage. Sanchez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Bryant.
A punch combination from Bryant misses. Sanchez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bryant manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Nick Bryant is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bryant tries to bum rush Sanchez with a series of wild strikes but Sanchez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bryant lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bryant paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sanchez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sanchez throws a head kick but Bryant moves out of range.

A jab from Bryant does it's job there. Bryant looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bryant will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sanchez pulls guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Bryant wanted to stand there but Sanchez had control of the position. Sanchez is pulling down on Bryant's head. It's preventing any offense from Bryant, at least for the moment. Bryant wants to get up but he can't break Sanchez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bryant has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sanchez has his hands on Bryant's head, controlling the position.
Julio Sanchez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Sanchez clinches up with Bryant and pushes him back against the cage. Sanchez jumps guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sanchez is trying to keep Bryant in close.

Bryant catches Sanchez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bryant as he avoids it easily. Bryant rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sanchez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bryant. Sanchez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nick Bryant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Sanchez. Sanchez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bryant, pushing him back against the cage. Bryant takes a knee to the side of the body. Bryant working hard to break the clinch. Bryant blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Sanchez is trying to pull guard but Bryant has him pressed against the cage. Bryant wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

A combination from Bryant does no damage. Sanchez lands a lovely overhand right. Sanchez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bryant sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanchez somewhat. Sanchez slips a jab and a cross from Bryant.
Bryant is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. A punch combination from Bryant misses. Bryant stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bryant wants it to stay on the feet. A left lands for Bryant. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bryant throws a combination. Sanchez tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Sanchez tries for a takedown but Bryant sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bryant throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sanchez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Bryant moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Bryant throws a right and a left that both miss. Sanchez shoots in but Bryant avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sanchez slips a jab and a cross from Bryant.
Bryant throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sanchez. Bryant gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sanchez to score an easy takedown into full guard. Bryant keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bryant wants to stand but Sanchez is controlling the position. Sanchez forces his way into half guard. Bryant is looking to escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez is trying to control. Bryant wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Bryant is looking to get back to is feet but Sanchez passes into side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sanchez taking a breather here. Julio Sanchez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nick Bryant is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Bryant wants to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Bryant. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bryant, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
