PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Faze Wrecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wrecker comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Chase the Ace. Mir has chosen Spoilin For A Fight as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Faze Wrecker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Mir misses.
Mir throws a jab when Wrecker was well out of range.
Mir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wrecker.
Wrecker throws a lazy uppercut

and Mir counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mir wants to control but Wrecker is keeping him busy.
Wrecker tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
The strikes coming from Mir are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Mir is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wrecker has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mir throws an elbow but Wrecker slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wrecker is not content to let Mir control the position.

Mir tries for a kimura but Wrecker is defending well.
Mir trying to control the action but Wrecker is working from the bottom.
Wrecker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mir wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wrecker is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mir's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Mir throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mir trying to mount his opponent but Wrecker defends it.
Wrecker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Mir slips a nice elbow through Wrecker's hands, connecting with Wrecker's forehead.
Mir with the ground and pound but Wrecker uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mir is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wrecker wants to get back to his feet but Mir is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mir drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wrecker manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mir has Wrecker in his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mir looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Mir looking for a guillotine here but Wrecker defends easily.

Mir working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Wrecker has passed into half guard!

Mir is looking to improve his position.

Mir actively working from the bottom here.

Mir looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Mir is trying to maintain the position but Wrecker is very close to passing his half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wrecker decides to stand up.
Mir sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wrecker feints and then cracks Mir's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mir down.
Wrecker lands a jab to the nose.


It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Mir shoots for a double leg takedown but Wrecker sprawls well. He's pushed Mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mir fails with the takedown
and Wrecker counters with a straight right hand.
Nice straight punches there by Mir. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mir.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wrecker changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Wrecker tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Mir jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Wrecker connects with a leg kick. Mir looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Wrecker throws a sloppy head kick and Mir moves out of range easily.

Mir digs a good body shot into Wrecker's ribs.
Wrecker misses with a low kick.
Wrecker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wrecker is looking to land body kicks.
Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wrecker throws a body punch but Mir moves out of range.
Mir throws a predictable looking body shot
and Wrecker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wrecker throws a nice outside leg kick.
Mir shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wrecker pinned against the cage. Wrecker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Faze Wrecker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Mir is breathing heavily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mir fails with a takedown attempt.
Mir shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Faze Wrecker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wrecker lands a nice shot to the body.
Mir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wrecker's waist but Wrecker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mir off to one side.
Mir tries for a takedown but Wrecker circles away easily
and Mir takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wrecker doesn't manage to clinch there - Mir circles away.
Mir tried to score with a low kick but Wrecker checks it.
Wrecker is looking to slow Mir down with leg kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wrecker moves into the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Wrecker as the two fighters clinch.
Wrecker tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Wrecker lands with a light punch inside.


That has opened up Frank Mir's cut even more.
Wrecker lands with a light punch inside.
Wrecker lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wrecker pushes Mir back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Wrecker lands a hook that snaps the head of Mir backwards.
Wrecker misses with a punch to the body.
Wrecker misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Still in the clinch, Wrecker scores with a nice short uppercut.


The cut above Frank Mir's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Wrecker misses with some punches.
Wrecker with a knee to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wrecker lands a hook to the side of the head.


Frank Mir's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Frank Mir's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Faze Wrecker!
A relieved looking Faze Wrecker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
