Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Matrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshi Honda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshi Honda will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Matrix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yoshi Honda! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Honda gets tackled into the cage by Matrix. Matrix maintains the clinch. Honda wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Matrix has him pressed against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Honda blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Matrix lands a takedown into guard.
Matrix makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Honda controls Matrix momentarily but Matrix frees himself. Matrix throws a big right hand that misses. Matrix is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Matrix throws an elbow that misses. Honda uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Matrix's guard. Nice move by Honda! Honda is fighting to break Matrix's control of his arms but Matrix is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Matrix has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Honda pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Matrix is keeping the position for now. Matrix wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matrix lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Honda! Matrix cracks Honda with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Matrix raining down hammerfists from mount. Matrix prevents Honda from getting the reversal. Honda is bucking up trying to escape but Matrix cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Matrix raining down hammerfists from mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Matrix putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Matrix is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Honda can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Matrix unloading with bombs! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matrix fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Honda can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matrix in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Honda is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A nice elbow there by Matrix. Honda is still in real trouble! Can Matrix finish him? Honda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matrix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Matrix postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Honda in real trouble here! The ref calls for Honda to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Matrix!
