The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastos throws an overhand right that lands on Gattuso's shoulder, as Gattuso tries to avoid the shot.
Gattuso misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bastos.

Bastos throws a poor cross that misses
and Gattuso counters with a good low kick that Bastos was not able to check.
Bastos closes the distance and clinches.
Gattuso breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gattuso takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Gattuso lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Gattuso throws a head kick but Bastos moves out of range.

Bastos looks to land a left hand but Gattuso moved out of range nicely.
Bastos closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gattuso's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gattuso lands a big head kick that sends Bastos tumbling to the mat! Gattuso takes a step backwards and waves Bastos back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Bastos is rocked!
Bastos tries to clinch but fails miserably
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Bastos is still on wobbly legs! Can Gattuso finish him?
Gattuso drops Bastos with a straight right hand, right on the button! Gattuso follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Javier Gattuso!
