Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evander Tripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hokey Smeinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tripp comes to the cage accompanied by Bad Company - The Nine. Smeinen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Far Away. Smeinen has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Evander Tripp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hokey Smeinen! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smeinen throws a push kick but Tripp slaps the foot to one side. Smeinen looks gassed! Tripp lands a nice hook to Smeinen's body. Smeinen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Tripp feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Tripp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smeinen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tripp throws a big elbow that misses. Smeinen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tripp. Tripp throwing strikes but missing. Tripp trying to control the position from guard on top but Smeinen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tripp throwing strikes but missing. Tripp postures up in Smeinen's guard and throws a big left but Smeinen blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tripp wants to control from the top but Smeinen keeps moving. Smeinen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tripp. Tripp working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Smeinen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Smeinen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Tripp throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Tripp throws a big right hand that misses. Smeinen keeping moving, preventing Tripp from controlling successfully. Tripp lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tripp postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Tripp keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smeinen's head. Tripp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smeinen can do anything to dispel that myth. Smeinen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tripp. Tripp slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Tripp throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tripp accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tripp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Smeinen keeping moving, preventing Tripp from controlling successfully. Tripp looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tripp is looking to work some ground and pound but Smeinen has wrist control. Tripp is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Tripp digs a good body shot into Smeinen's ribs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tripp ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Smeinen is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tripp throws a shot to the body.
Tripp lands the left hand. Tripp jabs at Smeinen's body. Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Tripp! Smeinen is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Evander Tripp! An out of breath Evander Tripp thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
