Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Trig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hendry Runs!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trig decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Trig wants to control but Runs is keeping him busy.
Trig lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Runs is looking to escape.
Runs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Trig.
Runs won't allow Trig to pass to mount.
Trig is keen to just control but Runs is a slippery customer.
Trig not doing much here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Trig wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A head kick misses from Runs.
Runs throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Trig blocks a head kick by Runs.
Hendry Runs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trig scores with a crisp jab that stopped Runs in his tracks.
Runs throws a head kick that misses.
Runs tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Runs throws a sloppy head kick and Trig moves out of range easily.
Trig cracks the inside of Runs's front leg.
Runs throws a half hearted mid kick.

Trig throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Runs was covering up waiting for the punch and Trig finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Runs looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Trig trying to control the position from guard on top but Runs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Trig throws a big right hand that misses.

Trig postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Runs is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Trig, into his guard.

Trig has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Runs can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Trig is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Trig breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick by Runs misses

and Trig counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Trig.

Trig trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Runs manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Trig is adopting a defensive guard.
Runs would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Trig has his feet on Runs's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Runs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trig sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Runs somewhat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Trig misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Trig avoids the head kick by Runs.
Runs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Trig has managed to clinch.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Trig is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Runs to keep the fight standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Trig dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Trig closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Well, if Trig is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Trig trying to mount his opponent but Runs defends it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Runs is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Trig.
Trig blocks a head kick by Runs.
Runs should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Trig shoots in and bounces Runs off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Trig is looking to stand up but Runs won't let him.
Trig trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Trig trying to control the position from guard on top but Runs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Trig accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Trig trying to control but Runs is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Frank Trig wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Runs tries a head kick but it misses.
Runs tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Runs is breathing heavily.
A head kick misses from Runs.

Trig manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Runs on his heels. He'll look to pass Runs's guard now, I'm sure.
Trig controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Frank Trig has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Trig clinches up with Runs and pushes him back against the ropes.
Trig blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Trig wants the takedown. Runs is fighting it off but Trig persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Runs's guard against the ropes.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Runs keeping moving, preventing Trig from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Trig's jab looks to have found its range, popping Runs under the eye.
Runs throws a head kick that misses
letting Trig counter with a right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Trig dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Trig has managed to clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Trig.
Runs is trying to push Trig away but Trig has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Runs missing with knees to the body.
Trig working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Runs is pressed up against the ropes. Trig has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Runs down to the mat. Runs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Runs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trig swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Trig feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Trig is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Runs keeping moving, preventing Trig from controlling successfully.

Trig drives through and clinches with Runs against the ropes.
Trig has Runs pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Runs manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Runs is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Trig. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Trig drops down looking for an ankle pick but Runs pulls his leg out and moves away.
Trig misses with a takedown attempt - Runs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Runs throws a head kick but Trig moves out of range.
Runs pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Trig shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Runs as he avoids it easily.
Trig tries to clinch but Runs is having none of it.

Runs goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Runs misses with a kick to the body.

Trig closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Runs did well to prevent Trig getting side control.
Trig wants to control but Runs is keeping him busy.
Trig thows a huge punch but Runs dodges it nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Trig thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Runs's head.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Frank Trig just wasn't active enough.
Runs goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Trig dives in and scores a takedown into Runs's guard.
Frank Trig overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Trig postures up in Runs's guard and throws a big left but Runs blocks it.

Trig is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Runs is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Runs wants to get up but he can't break Trig's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Trig tries to clinch up but Runs circles away and keeps his distance.
Both fighters circling a little - Runs finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Runs moves in looking to clinch but Trig pushes him off.
Trig dives in and grabs Runs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Runs pushes down on Trig's head and hops out.
Trig is looking to clinch but Runs is avoiding it.
Hendry Runs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Runs throws a sloppy head kick and Trig moves out of range easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Trig shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Trig gets to his feet - Runs follows without any prompting.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Trig showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Trig, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
