PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thurston Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beau Oxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oxer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Pretender - Foo fighters. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Thurston Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Beau Oxer!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore misses with a body shot.
Oxer scores with a nice strike.
A telegraphed right hand from Moore misses the target.
Moore loads up on a big right hand but Oxer slips the punch.
Oxer closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A good leg kick by Oxer.
Oxer missing with a left hand there. Moore was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A big right from Moore misses.
Oxer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Oxer slips under a jab from Moore.
Moore misses with the combination.
Oxer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Danga de danga de dang - Oxer scores with a four punch combination!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oxer throws a body punch but Moore moves out of range.
Moore takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Moore misses with a hook. Oxer ducked under it nicely.
Moore looks to land a combination but Oxer avoids it well.
Moore throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Oxer sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A combination from Moore does no damage.
Thurston Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moore moves away from the strike by Oxer.
Oxer throws a looping overhand right but Moore ducks down to avoid it.
A slow jab from Moore misses its intended target.
Oxer loads up on a big right hand but Moore slips the punch.
Oxer throws a looping overhand right but Moore ducks down to avoid it.
Oxer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Moore pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Moore misses with an uppercut.
The fighters circling - Moore throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Moore loads up on a big right hand but Oxer slips the punch.
Moore misses with a straight right.
Oxer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Oxer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Moore misses with a straight left.
Moore with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Oxer to score with a decent uppercut.
Moore avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Oxer gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Moore throws a hook to the side of Oxer's head but Oxer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Moore throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Oxer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Moore throws a right hand that Oxer ducks under and follows up with a left that Oxer also avoids with ease.
Oxer changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Moore thows a body shot but no joy.
Moore swings widly with a right hand
letting Oxer counter with a right hand.
Oxer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Oxer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Moore is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Oxer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Moore on the side of the head.
Moore attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Moore takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


Moore is rocked!
Oxer throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Moore's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Oxer dives in looking to finish as Moore flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Oxer's strikes! Oxer is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Moore's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Moore was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Beau Oxer!
