Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Medrado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Daris!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daris throws a jab but it's blocked by Medrado.
Daris shoots in for a takedown but Medrado shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Daris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Daris tries to close the distance and clinch but Medrado swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Junior Daris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Daris fails in his attempt to clinch.
Daris doesn't manage to clinch there - Medrado circles away.
Medrado shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Daris eats them both and turns towards Medrado to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Medrado throws a head kick that misses.

Medrado gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Medrado wants to break the clinch but can't.
Medrado changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Daris fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Medrado gets a double leg takedown into Daris's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Medrado cracks Daris with a solid left hand.
Medrado works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Medrado decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Medrado shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Daris is trying to defend but Medrado finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Medrado is trying to control the action in half guard but Daris is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Medrado is thwarting Daris's attempts to control the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Daris wants to get back to full guard but Medrado has passed into side control.

Medrado has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Daris is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Medrado yanks on the arm and Daris is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Medrado.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jose Medrado!
After winning the bout, Jose Medrado thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
