Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Topsy Elephant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Schillaci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Topsy Elephant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Schillaci!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schillaci throws a right and a left that both miss.
Schillaci tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Elephant paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Schillaci misses with a few strikes there.

Schillaci moves into the clinch successfully.
Elephant has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Schillaci after a bit of a struggle.
Elephant tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Schillaci just stands there and leans against the cage.
Elephant jumps guard but Schillaci stands there with Elephant around his waist. Elephant gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Topsy Elephant. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Elephant jumps guard but Schillaci turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Elephant can't get the takedown.
Elephant is trying to drag Schillaci to the mat but Schillaci just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Elephant has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Schillaci is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Elephant drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Schillaci's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No joy there for Schillaci, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Elephant feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Schillaci wants to stand and escape but Elephant is having none of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Elephant is on top in guard.
Elephant looking to sit in guard and control but Schillaci gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Schillaci is looking to stand up but Elephant won't let him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Elephant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A close round but David Schillaci will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Elephant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Schillaci can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Schillaci must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Elephant is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Schillaci to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Schillaci shrugs it off.

Elephant goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Schillaci turns into him and now he's in Elephant's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elephant is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Schillaci is aware though and is defending well.

Schillaci stands and steps away. Elephant gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Elephant misses with a takedown attempt - Schillaci sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Elephant shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Schillaci rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Elephant moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Schillaci scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Schillaci goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Elephant rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Schillaci's guard! Nice work there by Elephant!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Schillaci gets caught napping as Elephant dives in and scores a takedown. Schillaci manages to retain guard.

Elephant stalling away here and it's allowed Schillaci to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Elephant drops back looking for a leg! Schillaci is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schillaci manages to kick Elephant off! Elephant jumps back into Schillaci's guard.

Schillaci pushes Elephant off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Schillaci takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Schillaci leaves Elephant with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Schillaci is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Elephant's half guard.

Schillaci gets to his feet - Elephant follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Elephant is defended easily by Schillaci.

Elephant lands a nice hook to Schillaci's body. Schillaci takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Elephant throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Schillaci closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schillaci lands in his opponent's guard.

Elephant escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schillaci gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Schillaci decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Elephant, up you get!
Schillaci throws a nice looking combination but Elephant bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

I would just about give that final round to David Schillaci.
