Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Retzlaff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Steele! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Retzlaff misses with a takedown attempt and Steele counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Steele looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Steele is thwarting Retzlaff's attempts to control the position. Retzlaff is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Steele trying to mount his opponent but Retzlaff defends it. Retzlaff gets back to full guard.
Retzlaff utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Steele postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Retzlaff is on top in guard.
Retzlaff is stalling in the full guard. Retzlaff trying to control but Steele is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Christian Retzlaff wasn't doing enough on the ground. Retzlaff fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Retzlaff pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Retzlaff fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christian Retzlaff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steele keeps the fight on the outside. Retzlaff shoots in but Steele avoids the takedown attempt easily. Retzlaff tries for a takedown but Steele circles away easily and Steele counters by clinching up. Steele creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Steele gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Retzlaff regains guard.
Steele won't allow Retzlaff to sweep him here. Retzlaff keeping full guard, as Steele tries to pass. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Retzlaff looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Retzlaff is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Steele rolls with it to try and escape but Retzlaff cranks on the arm and Steele is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
