PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damian Sisco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalana Kawaanui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawaanui has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawaanui tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sisco swivels and escapes.
Sisco looks to land a combination but Kawaanui avoids it well.
Kawaanui tries to clinch there but Sisco circles away.

Sisco instigates a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Sisco's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sisco has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Kawaanui breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sisco misses with a body kick.
Sisco throws a combination. Kawaanui tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Kalana Kawaanui has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sisco instigates a clinch.
Kawaanui is trying to pull guard but Sisco turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kawaanui wants to break the clinch but can't.

Kawaanui breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sisco shoots in and drives through. Kawaanui sprawls well.
Kawaanui slips a jab and a cross from Sisco.

Horrible takedown by Kawaanui or perhaps it was just good defense by Sisco which made him look bad.

Sisco could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sisco sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Sisco keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kawaanui tries to clinch but Sisco moves out of range.

Kawaanui gets caught flat footed, as Sisco shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kawaanui throws a right hand that Sisco ducks under and follows up with a left that Sisco also avoids with ease.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No joy there for Sisco, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sisco throws the kick towards the body but Kawaanui avoids it.
Kawaanui tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That kick from Sisco tenderised Kawaanui's leg. Kawaanui is trying to keep his angry face on.

That was a close round but I would say that Damian Sisco will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Sisco's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kawaanui shoots in looking for a takedown but Sisco manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kawaanui's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kawaanui is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sisco to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sisco shrugs it off.
Kawaanui takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sisco is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sisco is squirming around, avoiding Kawaanui's attempts to control the action.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sisco gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sisco wants to get back to his feet but Kawaanui is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kawaanui stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sisco swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kawaanui wants to control from the top but Sisco keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kalana Kawaanui has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Kawaanui changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sisco tries to avoid it but Kawaanui manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sisco to the ground. Sisco escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sisco throws the kick towards the body but Kawaanui avoids it.
Sisco throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kawaanui misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sisco works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Sisco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kawaanui looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kalana Kawaanui comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kawaanui has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
