Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anderson Harris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jambo Liddel! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Harris with that takedown attempt. Harris shoots in and drives through. Liddel sprawls well. Harris closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Liddel quickly recovers to half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Liddel trying to hold on to Harris's head to control him but Harris postures up.
Harris slips a nice elbow through Liddel's hands, connecting with Liddel's forehead. Liddel is holding on to half guard well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Liddel trying to control but Harris postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jambo Liddel has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Harris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Harris shoots in but Liddel avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris fails with a takedown attempt. Harris shoots in for a takedown but Liddel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Harris shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liddel pinned against the cage. Liddel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Harris tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Liddel swivels and escapes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Liddel but Liddel pushes him off and we're back to square one. Liddel tries to clinch up and Harris counters with a nice double leg into side control. Liddel won't be happy with that. Harris misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Liddel is trying to get back to half guard. Harris in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Liddel wants to control but Harris postures up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Liddel is looking to regain half guard here but Harris keeps moving and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anderson Harris dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Harris avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Harris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Harris looking to pass the guard. Harris controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Harris with a flurry of punches that miss. Harris controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Anderson Harris. Harris tries for a takedown but Liddel circles away easily and Liddel counters with a two punch combo. Liddel leaves Harris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Harris misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him. Liddel misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A nice inside leg kick there by Liddel. That's going to slow Harris down. Liddel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Harris. Harris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Liddel avoids it really well and circles away. Harris shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Harris was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris throwing strikes here but Liddel is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Harris goes for an armbar but Liddel turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Liddel. Liddel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harris is keeping the position for now. Liddel has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harris is proving hard to escape from.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Liddel tries to free his leg and advance position but Harris is retaining full guard. Liddel stopping the sweep attempt from Harris. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Harris keeping full guard, as Liddel tries to pass. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Anderson Harris will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Harris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Liddel avoids it really well and circles away. Liddel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Harris circles away quickly and effectively. Liddel stuffs the takedown attempt from Harris. Harris gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Liddel swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Harris counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Liddel's guard now. Harris postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harris looking to sit in guard and control but Liddel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Liddel trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Harris is pulling down on Liddel's head to control his posture. Liddel wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving. Harris is trying to control the position but Liddel postures up. Jambo Liddel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harris is keeping the position for now. Harris keeping moving, preventing Liddel from controlling successfully.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jambo Liddel wasn't active enough on the ground. Harris shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Harris is defended easily by Liddel. Harris moves out of range as Liddel strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Harris working the strikes but Liddel uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Liddel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Liddel has Harris pulled in close to control his posture. Liddel has momentary wrist control but Harris slips an elbow through the middle. Anderson Harris is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harris passes Liddel's left leg - he's now in half guard. Liddel wants to sweep but Harris has passed to side control! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. You can see the frustration on Liddel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Anderson Harris showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harris, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
