Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruslan Baroev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Sosa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Baroev!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baroev pushes Sosa up against the cage in a clinch.

Baroev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Baroev with a lazy takedown attempt
and Sosa counters with a three punch combo that has Baroev backing up. Baroev nods at Sosa to acknowledge the strikes.
Baroev ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Sosa looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Sosa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sosa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Baroev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sosa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sosa stands up from Baroev's guard - Sosa perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sosa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Baroev did well to prevent Sosa getting side control.
Sosa works his foot free and advances to mount.
Baroev is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sosa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sosa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Baroev has worked his arm free - good work by Baroev!

Sosa throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Sosa content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Sosa decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sosa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Baroev counters by moving into the clinch.
Sosa can't break the clinch.
Sosa is looking to control Baroev's arms but Baroev gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sosa has his back to the cage.

Baroev's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Baroev darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sosa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sosa.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Baroev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sosa wants to sweep here but Baroev controlling him for the moment.
Baroev trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Sosa manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baroev being controlled here, momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Sosa dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sosa lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Ruslan Baroev has been cut.
Sosa circles away from the clinch attempt.

Sosa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Baroev is still in real trouble! Can Sosa finish him?

Sosa quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Sosa but it's paid off an Baroev is forced to tap! Nice work by Sosa.
