Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Silva Beltran Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rigor Mortis!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Beltran Jr.
Mortis fails with the takedown.
Mortis avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mortis pushes Beltran Jr up against the cage in a clinch.

Mortis has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Beltran Jr is trying to keep an underhook but Mortis manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Mortis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mortis lands a nice short elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beltran Jr is trying to get back to full guard.

Beltran Jr is defending against the submission attempts here by Mortis.

Beltran Jr wants to improve his position but Mortis is controlling well.
Mortis wants to control but Beltran Jr is keeping him busy.
Beltran Jr tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Beltran Jr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mortis sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Beltran Jr defending well though.
Mortis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mortis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Beltran Jr can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mortis lands a big shot there that rocks Beltran Jr but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Rigor Mortis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Horrible takedown by Mortis or perhaps it was just good defense by Beltran Jr which made him look bad.
Beltran Jr scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Mortis shoots in for a double leg but Beltran Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mortis tries to clinch up but Beltran Jr circles away and keeps his distance.
Mortis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Silva Beltran Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rigor Mortis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beltran Jr lands with a straight right. Mortis didn't see that one coming.

Mortis has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mortis there as he acknowledges the shot.

Beltran Jr works over Mortis's head and body with a nice combination.
Beltran Jr scores with a jab to the head.
Mortis shoots for a takedown but Beltran Jr saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Mortis takes one to the side of the head.
Beltran Jr stuffs the takedown attempt from Mortis. Mortis gets slowly back to his feet.
Silva Beltran Jr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mortis is breathing heavily.

Mortis doesn't manage to clinch there - Beltran Jr circles away.
Beltran Jr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mortis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Beltran Jr is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Mortis is trying to improve his position.
The strikes coming from Beltran Jr are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Mortis misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Beltran Jr tries to score with some ground and pound. Mortis controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Mortis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Beltran Jr's best efforts.
Beltran Jr wants to pass the guard but Mortis is defending well.
Beltran Jr not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Beltran Jr works the jab nicely.
Mortis swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Beltran Jr counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mortis closes the distance and clinches up with Beltran Jr, looking for a takedown. Mortis pushes Beltran Jr against the cage but Beltran Jr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rigor Mortis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mortis throws a head kick that misses.

Mortis dodges the punch combination from Beltran Jr.
Beltran Jr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mortis doesn't manage to clinch there - Beltran Jr circles away.
Beltran Jr stalks Mortis and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mortis's face. Mortis staggers backwards, shaken.

Beltran Jr circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Beltran Jr thuds his right hand into Mortis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Beltran Jr throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mortis counters with a nice low kick that buckles Beltran Jr's knee momentarily.
Mortis wants to clinch
and Beltran Jr counters with a nice uppercut.
Mortis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Beltran Jr throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Mortis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Beltran Jr!

Beltran Jr is wriggling around trying to escape.

Mortis pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Beltran Jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mortis on the ground.
Mortis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The referee warns Beltran Jr that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Mortis lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Mortis tries to control but Beltran Jr wriggling away.
Mortis thowing shots but they're missing.
Mortis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

A nice elbow there by Mortis.
Beltran Jr flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Mortis prevents Beltran Jr from getting the reversal.
Mortis with a couple of short strikes.
Mortis controlling his opponent.
Mortis trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Mortis looking for a guillotine from mount but Beltran Jr is having none of it.

Beltran Jr is mounted and he's throwing punches. Is that wise?

Mortis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Mortis jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Beltran Jr is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Beltran Jr and Mortis has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Mortis connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Beltran Jr some visible discomfort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mortis is looking to take a break and control but Beltran Jr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mortis grinds an elbow into Beltran Jr's temple.
Mortis wants to control for a moment but Beltran Jr uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Mortis manages to get to full guard.
Mortis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

And that's the end of the fight!
Rigor Mortis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mortis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
