PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexandre Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremiah Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turner is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: WILD ONe. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeremiah Turner!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Alexandre Sousa has been cut.
Horrible takedown by Turner or perhaps it was just good defense by Sousa which made him look bad.
Sousa slips a jab and a cross from Turner.
Sousa is looking to slow Turner down with leg kicks.

Sousa forces Turner back against the cage and clinches.
Sousa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Turner gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Turner blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Sousa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sousa throws a right and a left that both miss.

Turner tries to close the distance and clinch but Sousa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sousa closes the distance and pushes Turner back into the cage.
Sousa is trying to break free.
Turner is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Sousa gets underhooks to prevent Turner's takedown attempt.
Alexandre Sousa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremiah Turner.

Turner has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sousa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sousa has momentary wrist control but Turner slips an elbow through the middle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Turner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sousa is fending him off so far but Turner persists. Nope, Sousa circles away and we're back to standing.

Sousa shoots in for a takedown but Turner shows good takedown defense.
Sousa's corner calls for a 1-2. Sousa obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Sousa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sousa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Turner stuffs the takedown attempt from Sousa. Sousa gets slowly back to his feet.

Turner lands a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sousa holds on and takes a little breather.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexandre Sousa will probably get the nod.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Turner.

Sousa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Turner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sousa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Turner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sousa defends it nicely.
Turner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Turner prevents a takedown attempt there.

Turner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sousa has his foot on Turner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Turner works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Turner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Turner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sousa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Turner has managed to get both his arms back between Sousa's legs - danger averted.

Turner throws a sloppy head kick and Sousa moves out of range easily.
Sousa shoots in looking for a takedown but Turner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sousa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sousa scores with a one two! Turner had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Sousa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Turner is looking to clinch but Sousa is avoiding it.

Turner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sousa fails to land the takedown.
Turner shoots in for a double leg but Sousa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Turner throws a series of punches but Sousa avoids them all with ease.

Sousa is looking to take this one to the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jeremiah Turner.
I think Turner has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
