Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pit Jonson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pit Jonson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pit Jonson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Cox!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jonson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jonson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Jonson cracks Cox with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jonson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cox is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cox is desperately trying to improve his position but Jonson has a good base and remains in mount.

Jonson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Jonson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cox can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Cox really wants to buck Jonson off and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jonson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jonson is breathing heavily.

Jonson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cox stands up from Jonson's guard - Cox perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jonson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cox pushes Jonson off and gets back to his feet.
Cox tries to clinch up but Jonson circles away and keeps his distance.
Jonson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cox stuffs the takedown attempt from Jonson. Jonson gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cox as he avoids it easily.
Cox looks to land a combination but Jonson avoids it well.
Pit Jonson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cox lands a nice looking body kick.

Cox feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cox wants to control from the top but Jonson keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jonson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jonson.
Jonson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Jonson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jonson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jonson feints and as Cox raises his hands in defense, Jonson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

and Cox counters with a single leg into guard. Jonson didn't expect that.

Pit Jonson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cox might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jonson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Jonson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jonson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Dick Cox showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
