PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Enis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Fallon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Enis has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Johnny Fallon is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Phil Enis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Fallon!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Enis gets caught flat footed, as Fallon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fallon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fallon works over Enis with some ground and pound from guard.
Fallon wants to control from the top but Enis keeps moving.
Fallon with a flurry of punches that miss.

Fallon stands up from Enis's guard - Fallon perhaps looking for a knockout.
Enis is breathing heavily.

Fallon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Fallon breaks the clinch.

Fallon closes the distance and clinches.

Fallon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fallon.

Enis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fallon is looking to regain half guard here but Enis keeps moving and retains side control.

Fallon explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Fallon wants to clinch up but Enis keeps it at a distance.

Donk. Fallon catches Enis right on the button with a cross.
Fallon moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Fallon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Enis regains half guard.
Fallon is stalling here. Enis is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Fallon seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Enis has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Enis decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Enis wants to clinch.

Enis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fallon sprawls well initially but Enis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Enis tries to stand and escape but Fallon is controlling the position.
Fallon preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Fallon is trying to get back to full guard.
Enis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Enis decides to stand up.
Nice sprawl there from Fallon as Enis shoots in.

Enis looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fallon controls Enis momentarily but Enis frees himself.
Enis wants to control from the top but Fallon keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fallon has his foot on Enis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Enis works his way back into a safe position though.

Fallon shoots in for a double leg but Enis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fallon doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Enis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Fallon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Enis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Phil Enis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Fallon.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Enis shoots in looking for a takedown. Fallon tries to sprawl out of it but Enis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fallon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fallon is looking to control Enis's arms but Enis gets an underhook and turns him. Now Fallon has his back to the cage.
Fallon has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Enis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Enis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fallon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Enis.
Enis is pressed up against the cage. Fallon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Enis down to the mat. Enis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Enis closes the distance and clinches.
Enis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fallon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Enis managing to block the knees to the body from Fallon.
Enis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fallon pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Fallon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fallon connects with a crisp jab.
Fallon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Enis is fending him off so far but Fallon persists. Nope, Enis circles away and we're back to standing.

Fallon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Enis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Johnny Fallon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fallon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fallon wants to control from the top but Enis keeps moving.
Enis is trying to keep Fallon in close.

Fallon gets to his feet. Enis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Enis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Enis landing with the ground and pound.
Fallon wants to stand but Enis is controlling the position.
Fallon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Enis is one step ahead there.
Fallon lands a decent punch to the body there.
Fallon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Enis's guard.
Enis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Fallon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Enis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fallon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Enis is trying to control Fallon's posture but Fallon avoids it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Fallon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Fallon tries to get to his feet but Enis is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Fallon in his guard.

Enis has a closed guard, preventing Fallon from standing up.

Enis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Enis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fallon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Enis on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Fallon landing a few strikes.
Enis parries the strikes from Fallon easily there. Fallon is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Enis to escape.
Enis tries to improve position but can't.

Enis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Fallon working away.
Fallon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Enis keeps working.

Fallon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Enis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Enis is not content to let Fallon control the position.
Enis struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Enis is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Enis manages to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Enis manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Fallon trying to control but Enis is working from the bottom.
Enis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fallon landing with the ground and pound.
Fallon chips away with some ground and pound.
Fallon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Enis looking for a sweep. Not yet Enis, not yet.
Fallon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Fallon trying to control the position from guard on top but Enis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fallon lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Phil Enis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Johnny Fallon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fallon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
