Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drake Vonstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hung Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Vonstein might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Seether - Remedy. Dong has chosen Lollipop - BIGBANG and 2NE1 as his entrance music. Hung Dong has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Drake Vonstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hung Dong!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vonstein swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Dong goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Dong wants to clinch up but Vonstein keeps it at a distance.
Nice takedown defense from Dong. No joy for Vonstein on that attempt.
Nice body punch from Dong.
Dong keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Dong dives in and scores a takedown into Vonstein's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Dong postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dong trying to control the position from guard on top but Vonstein is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vonstein lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dong!

Dong tries to hold on but Vonstein postures up.
Dong holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Vonstein tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Vonstein takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vonstein jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dong manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Check out the look on Vonstein's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

You can see the frustration on Dong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Vonstein lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dong down.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Vonstein thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Vonstein chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dong can pounce on him.
Dong tries to clinch up but Vonstein circles away and keeps his distance.

Vonstein moves out of range of the body kick.
Dong misses with a straight right.

Dong lands a head kick that stumbles Vonstein and the fighters go to the mat.


It looks like Drake Vonstein has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vonstein is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dong is aware though and is defending well.
Vonstein pulls Dong in close to prevent any damage.

Vonstein has his foot on Dong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dong works his way back into a safe position though.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vonstein is on top in guard.
Vonstein will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Vonstein drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dong looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dong looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dong!

Drake Vonstein overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dong moves into full mount! Vonstein won't be happy about that!

Dong lands a big shot there that rocks Vonstein but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dong postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Vonstein looks a forlorn figure.

Hung Dong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Vonstein manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dong on his heels. He'll look to pass Dong's guard now, I'm sure.

Dong content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
