Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Philip Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Rood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rood has chosen - as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Philip Phillips! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Rood! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rood with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Phillips shoots in for a takedown but Rood shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Phillips has managed to clinch.
Rood misses with a hook from the clinch. Still in the clinch, Rood scores with a nice short uppercut. Rood tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Phillips's elbow. Phillips wants a takedown.
Phillips can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philip Phillips. That's going to take a lot out of him. Phillips blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rood lands on the inside with an uppercut. Rood avoiding damage.
Phillips escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rood lands a body shot.
Phillips fails in his attempt to clinch. Rood pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phillips slips under a jab. Phillips displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rood throws out the jab. Phillips tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rood swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rood throws a sloppy head kick and Phillips moves out of range easily. Rood shoots in but no luck this time. Rood throws an overhand right that lands on Phillips's shoulder, as Phillips tries to avoid the shot. Rood takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Rood. Phillips is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Rood connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Phillips some visible discomfort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rood working away. Rood landing a few strikes. Rood is looking to take a break and control but Phillips is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Phillips gets back to half guard. Phillips looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Phillips is looking for a sweep. Rood is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rood scoring with strikes to the body and head. Rood is trying for a kimura here. Phillips looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Rood wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Brad Rood! Jumping up and down and very excited, Brad Rood waved his t-shirt featuring Hellbent 's logo in front of the cameras.
