PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Naru Jarkko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hellson Ballswick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jarkko comes to the cage accompanied by Hawaii 78 & E ala E. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballswick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jarkko's waist but Jarkko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ballswick off to one side.
Ballswick shoots in but Jarkko avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jarkko misses with a body shot.
Ballswick fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jarkko avoids it really well and circles away.
Naru Jarkko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hellson Ballswick.

Ballswick is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jarkko is controlling him.

Ballswick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jarkko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jarkko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jarkko is looking to work some ground and pound but Ballswick has wrist control.
Jarkko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ballswick pushes Jarkko off and scrambles back to his feet.

Jarkko throws a lazy right hand but Ballswick sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Ballswick shoots for a double leg takedown but Jarkko sprawls well. He's pushed Ballswick's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jarkko lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ballswick's sensitive parts.
Ballswick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jarkko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jarkko stands and throws Ballswick's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ballswick is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jarkko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ballswick manages to get himself to full guard.

Ballswick can't keep his opponent in guard - Jarkko advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
