Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cade Voce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Nelson! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Voce fails in his attempt to clinch. Voce is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Voce moves into the clinch. Voce scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Carlos Nelson has been cut. Nelson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson throws a jab when Voce was well out of range. Nelson feints and as Voce raises his hands in defense, Nelson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Nelson wants to control from the top but Voce keeps moving. Voce manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nelson manages to get himself to full guard.
Nelson wants to sweep here but Voce controlling him for the moment. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Voce tries to free his leg and advance position but Nelson is retaining full guard. Nelson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Voce would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Voce looking to pass the guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Voce tries to clinch there but Nelson circles away.

Voce looks to clinch and Nelson counters with a takedown into side control. Voce tries to escape but Nelson is in control. Nelson tries to move to mount but Voce blocks the move with his legs. Voce is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Nelson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nelson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Nelson looks gassed! Nelson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Voce rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nelson's guard! Nice work there by Voce!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson is working an open guard so Voce takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Voce darts in trying to clinch and Nelson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Cade Voce is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Voce looks to clinch and Nelson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nelson. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Voce is looking for a triangle but Nelson pushes his legs off easily.
Nelson passes Voce's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nelson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Voce is just riding it out for now. Nelson eventually gives up the hold. Nelson is working for a kimura but Voce is defending it quite comfortably.
Nelson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Voce defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Voce is looking to escape. Nelson works his way into side control. Voce prevents Nelson from moving into mount. Nelson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Voce is trying to escape and Nelson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Voce is forced to tap! Nice work there by Nelson! Very nice indeed!
