3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Rice! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanikawa swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Rice with a poor takedown and Tanikawa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rice! Tanikawa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Rice takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee warns Rice that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action! Rice is in a horrible position here. Tanikawa smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tanikawa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Rice really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rice is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Tanikawa raining down shots from the mount! Tanikawa raining down hammerfists from mount. Tanikawa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Tanikawa working Rice over with strikes here. Tanikawa in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Rice is rocked! Tanikawa lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Rice! Tanikawa sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Rice and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
