Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Frink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Funkyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Frink! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Funkyama! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frink shoots in looking for a takedown but Funkyama manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Frink's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Funkyama uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Frink. Frink takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. A nice leg kick lands there from Funkyama. Frink looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Funkyama walks forward, straight into a front kick from Frink. John Frink seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Frink fails in his attempt to clinch. Nice straight punches there by Frink. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Frink. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Frink fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Funkyama sprawls well initially but Frink persists and gets the takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Frink wants to free his trapped foot but Funkyama is holding on for dear life with his legs. Frink is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Funkyama has managed to free his arm - good work. Funkyama is defending against the submission attempts here by Frink.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frink is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Funkyama is not content to let Frink control the position. Frink is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Funkyama doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Frink. Funkyama pushes Frink off looking to stand but Frink dives back in and keeps control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frink trying to advance position but Funkyama counters by regaining guard. Frink has gone for a leg lock! Funkyama slips out almost immediately though and dives into Frink's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Frink had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Funkyama defends it easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Funkyama slips nicely into half guard. Frink actively working from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Funkyama winds up and cracks Frink with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Funkyama is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Frink is looking to get to half guard. Funkyama landing shots from mount. Frink is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frink slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Ground and pound from Funkyama. Frink is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Frink is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Funkyama pulls his head out easily. Funkyama trying to pass the guard but Frink defending well. Funkyama is nestled in close to Frink, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Funkyama slips a nice elbow through Frink's hands, connecting with Frink's forehead. Frink looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Funkyama prevents Frink from improving his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Frink dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

It looks like John Frink has been cut. Frink is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Funkyama stuns Frink with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Funkyama pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Funkyama throws a nice outside leg kick. Funkyama takes one to the side of the head.

Frink rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Funkyama counters with a stiff right hand. Frink tries to clinch up. Frink stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Frink tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Funkyama paws at him with a jab and circles away. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Frink misses the body punch and Funkyama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Frink misses with a shot to the body and Funkyama counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Funkyama. Frink has his foot on Funkyama's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Funkyama works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Funkyama works over Frink with some ground and pound from guard. Funkyama pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Frink is keeping the position for now. Funkyama must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Funkyama trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Frink manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Funkyama is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Frink has gone for a leg lock! Funkyama slips out almost immediately though and dives into Frink's guard. Funkyama with a nice head shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frink working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Funkyama has passed into half guard!

Frink sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Frink on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Frink is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Frink is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Funkyama scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Funkyama wants to pass the guard but Frink is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Frink looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Funkyama is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Frink tries to get to full guard but Funkyama has control of the leg. Funkyama is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Frink reverses the position - he's now on top in Funkyama's guard. Funkyama trying to keep a closed guard but Frink is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frink wants to control from the top but Funkyama keeps moving. Frink drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Funkyama manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Frink has Funkyama in his guard. Frink utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Funkyama trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Funkyama tries to free his leg and advance position but Frink is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Funkyama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on John Frink's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Frink shoots for a takedown but Funkyama saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Frink wants to clinch up but Funkyama keeps it at a distance. Frink shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Funkyama sprawls well. Funkyama wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Frink gets slowly back to his feet. Funkyama throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Frink is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Both fighters circling a little - Frink finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Frink misses with a body shot
and Funkyama counters with a two punch combo. Frink avoids the body shot from Funkyama.
Funkyama walks into a stiff left hand from Frink. Frink gets in close and instigates a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Funkyama is looking to take this one to the mat. Funkyama blocks an elbow strike. Frink tries for a takedown but Funkyama manages to get underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round. Funkyama lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Frink backwards. Funkyama looking for a takedown. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Frink just misses with a elbow thrown towards Funkyama's brow. Frink tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Funkyama just stands there and leans against the cage. Funkyama has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Frink avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Funkyama dodges an elbow strike from Frink.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Frink looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Frink throws a body kick that misses. Frink tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Funkyama was well out of range. Poor timing from Frink. John Frink is winning the standup battle so far. Funkyama bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Funkyama swats away the attempt to clinch by Frink. Frink takes one on the button.
Frink is rocked! BOOM! Funkyama lands a beautiful left hook that drops Frink. Frink tries to recover but Funkyama is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Frink lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
