The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Therand. No joy for Moraes on that attempt.
Moraes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sergio Moraes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A shot to the body from Moraes misses
and Therand counters with an inside leg kick.
Moraes shoots in but no luck this time.
Therand throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Moraes was covering up waiting for the punch and Therand finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Therand tries to stand but Moraes is controlling from the bottom.
Therand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moraes on the ground.

Moraes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Therand doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Therand manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Moraes is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Therand frees his head nicely. Oh but Moraes has switched to an armbar! Therand is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
